As co-editor (with Stanley Krippner) of Dreamscaping, I found Jenny Davidow's book filled with brilliant, insightful and creative ways to work with one's dreams. So wonderful, in fact, that I chose an excerpt from her book and included it with the other world-leading authorities on dreams. A rare and worthwhile find that is filled with personal stories, anecdotes and exercises.

Have you ever felt like you were struggling with life, and that no matter how hard you try, things just weren't going your way? What would you have given at those times for a way to resolve those problems from the inside out? When we face challenges in life, most of us work on problems using our heads... pretty much ignoring the wisdom of our hearts, not to mention any mysterious gut feelings. Part of the reason for this oversight has to do with the fact that most of us were never trained in how to access the deepest wisdom of our subconscious minds... those voices of wisdom that speak without words. Jenny Davidow's masterful book, EMBRACING YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS provides you with a road map for navigating the murky depths of your subconscious in ways that are both fun and effective. I especially love the section of the book that describes how you are living a waking dream all the time, and provides tips for helping you notice when something in your waking life is attempting to get your attention through: intense reaction, repetition, or unusual event. Helpful exercises and meditations are provided along with fascinating real life examples of improved subconscious communication. If you're ready to pull your life together using some wonderfully fun and effective techniques, EMBRACING YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS will thrill, surprise and delight you every step of the way!

This book is literally a dream-come-true, a gem of original and practical advice for exploring hidden parts of your psyche, your creativity, and dreams. As the co-editor (with Dr. Stanley Krippner) of Dreamscaping, I found Jenny Davidow's book filled with brilliant, insightful, creative ways to work with personal dreams. So wonderful that I included an excerpt from this book in my anthology. Her way of working with dreams is equal to the techniques offered by other leading authorities in the field. Her book was filled with many personal stories, anecdotes and exercises that I find useful for myself and in my work with clients (I'm also a therapist). I particularly liked her suggestions for working with sensual and erotic dreams.

Your subconscious is a powerful and mysterious force that can either hold you back or help you move forward. Without its cooperation, your best goals will go unrealized; with its help, you are unbeatable. This premise pervades a blending of psychological approaches, journal writing, lucid dreaming, and shamanism, as Davidow leads us into a better and more healthy acquaintance with that shadowy side of ourselves. Each technique offers solid ways to communicate with and to reprogram the subconscious mind. By doing so, states the author, one can resolve inner conflicts, thereby resolving conflicts with others, and bring the best of oneself into the world.

“Embracing Your Subconscious”... provides one of the most comprehensive explanations of the subconscious mind that I’ve ever encountered, in addition to an easy-to-follow map of how we can make it our ally for life. Dr. Davidow offers ways to understand the daily messages that come to us from our subconscious minds. Her methods evolved from her personal daily and dream journal, kept for more than twenty-five years. Jenny combines methods from Gestalt and Jungian psychology, hypnotherapy and shamanism (and also) shows us how to explore the fascinating world of lucid dreaming and fantasy.

I am convinced that by following the “user-friendly” direction Jenny Davidow provides in “Embracing Your Subconscious,” we can, to quote the author, “manifest our heart’s desires.” I encourage you to read “Embracing Your Subconscious.” I am confident you’ll find it a rewarding experience.

This book has been selected as the basic text for one of the doctoral courses at the American Institute of Hypnotherapy because it is a particularly well-done work about the subconscious mind.
